About the role
This is a temporary / seasonal position that begins August 1, 2026, and extends through March 31, 2027.
Responsibilities
- Collect field data and identify avian species, predominantly waterfowl
- Perform waterfowl roosting mitigative measures
- Operate vehicles and boats
Requirements
- One year of experience in bird identification, particularly with Eastern North American waterfowl and gull species
- Experience with small boat and 4WD vehicle operations
- A minimum of an associate degree in applied science in Wildlife or a closely related discipline (environmental science, ecology, biology, etc.) or a comparable combination of education and experience
- Experience performing technical duties, such as sample collection and data recording
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to withstand various field conditions (wet weather, heat, cold, etc.) and be able to hike to observation points, carrying requisite equipment and supplies
- Valid driver's license and compliance with HDR's vehicle policy
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Microsoft Office product experience
- General background-related experience
