Wildlife Technician

About the role

This is a temporary / seasonal position that begins August 1, 2026, and extends through March 31, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Collect field data and identify avian species, predominantly waterfowl
• Perform waterfowl roosting mitigative measures
• Operate vehicles and boats

Requirements

• One year of experience in bird identification, particularly with Eastern North American waterfowl and gull species
• Experience with small boat and 4WD vehicle operations
• A minimum of an associate degree in applied science in Wildlife or a closely related discipline (environmental science, ecology, biology, etc.) or a comparable combination of education and experience
• Experience performing technical duties, such as sample collection and data recording
• Ability to work weekends and holidays
• Ability to withstand various field conditions (wet weather, heat, cold, etc.) and be able to hike to observation points, carrying requisite equipment and supplies
• Valid driver's license and compliance with HDR's vehicle policy

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Microsoft Office product experience
• General background-related experience
