WIC Nutrition Aide

About the role

We are a private, not-for-profit organization that coordinates public health grants for a 26-county region in central PA. We seek a Nutrition Aide to work in the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program in Lewistown.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments
• Determine eligibility
• Collect data
• Conduct nutrition interviews
• Prescribe food benefits
• Perform various duties to ensure the delivery of WIC benefits, nutrition education, and breastfeeding support

Qualifications

• A minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and one year of related experience are required.
• Preferred qualifications include:
• A Nutrition and Dietetic Technician, Registered (NDTR) credential with an associate degree;
• An associate or bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health, health education, or a related field;
• College-level coursework in nutrition, dietetics, public health, health education, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

These qualifications are preferred but not required.

Requirements

• The ideal candidate will have strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills;
• Work well as part of a team;
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous WIC experience is preferred but not required.
• Local travel within Mifflin and Juniata Counties is required, along with some early evening and Saturday hours.
