The White County Part-time 4-H Program Assistant position is part of the UGA Cooperative Extension Service within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Northeast District.
About the role
The Program Assistant supports county extension agents in delivering 4-H youth development and agricultural programs. Duties include office operations, assisting 4-H members with competitive events, transporting youth to district/state events, and helping clientele access Extension resources.
Responsibilities
- Assist in facilitating the County 4-H Program:
- Help 4-H’ers prepare for competitive events (project achievement, judging teams, etc.)
- Transport or arrange transportation for 4-H’ers to district and state events; provide leadership during events when assigned
- Incorporate program evaluations and feedback into future program planning
- Help implement educational agriculture programs:
- Maintain office hours to assist clientele and conduct daily operations
- Assist clientele with Extension resources: printed publications, online content, educational materials, and sample submission for diagnostic services (soil/water tests, feed/animal waste analysis, radon testing)
- Perform other related duties as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Strong organizational skills and working knowledge of office practices/procedures
- Ability to use independent judgment with confidential information
- Works with limited supervision
Skills
- Physical ability to pack/move boxes, handle equipment, load/unload vehicles
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive for job-related duties
- Direct interaction with children under 18
Pay
$18.25 per hour at 16 hours per week.
Schedule
Part-time (0.40 FTE), 16 hours per week. Reporting days/times may vary.
