The White County Part-time 4-H Program Assistant position supports the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service in the Northeast District. About the role

This part-time (.40 FTE) role assists county extension agents with daily 4-H and agricultural programs. The position is non-benefits eligible and requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in facilitating the County 4-H Program (50%):
    • Help 4-H’ers prepare for competitive events (project achievement, judging teams, etc.).
    • Transport or arrange transportation for 4-H’ers to district and state events; provide leadership during these events if assigned.
    • Incorporate program evaluations and feedback into future planning.
  • Help implement educational agriculture programs (40%):
    • Maintain office hours to assist clientele and conduct day-to-day operations.
    • Help clientele access Extension resources (printed publications, online content, diagnostic services like soil/water tests, feed analysis, radon testing).
  • Perform other related duties as needed (10%).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational skills and working knowledge of office practices.
  • Ability to use independent judgment with confidential information.
  • Works with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to pack/move boxes, handle equipment, and load/unload vehicles.
  • Travel to events and driving as part of job duties.
  • Position of trust with access to financial resources, confidential records, and direct interaction with children under 18.

Pay

$18.25/hour at 16 hours per week.

Schedule

Part-time, 16 hours per week with variable reporting days/times.
