About the role
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of 2 years. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Ottawa, Canada.
Responsibilities
- Represent and manage WHH Canada in compliance with all applicable Canadian legal and regulatory requirements.
- Position WHH Canada as a trusted and competent partner within the Canadian humanitarian and development sector.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with Global Affairs Canada (GAC), Canadian NGOs, NGO networks, research institutions, and other key stakeholders.
- Actively represent WHH Canada in relevant Canadian NGO networks and working groups, fostering partnerships and collaboration.
- Support WHH country offices and regional teams in donor engagement, positioning, and funding applications with GAC.
- Represent WHH Canada at conferences, forums, and other external events to strengthen the organization's visibility and partnerships.
Requirements
- University degree in social sciences, development studies, international relations, or a comparable field.
- At least five years of relevant professional experience in international development cooperation.
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian institutional funding landscape, with a proven track record of securing funding from Global Affairs Canada (GAC).
- Demonstrated experience in external representation, business development, partnership management, and relationship building.
- Experience in the design and implementation of humanitarian and development cooperation programmes or projects.
- Excellent negotiation, networking, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholders and perform well under pressure.
- Recognize the growing value of data in your field and be eager to build your awareness and skills to incorporate data-informed approaches into your work.
Qualifications
- Fluency in English and French is required.
- Experience in Canada is preferred but not mandatory.
