About the Role
The Warehouse Associate provides support to the supply chain by safely collecting, loading, shipping, and receiving warehouse products. The successful candidate will operate technical equipment, optimize loading for efficient logistics, and support other warehouse functions to ensure optimal operation of the business. This role involves operating a forklift safely and moving manufactured parts throughout the facility, including physical lifting of merchandise up to 50 lbs. The ideal candidate will be motivated to grow with Palmetto Gourmet Foods long-term and must be flexible with schedules, work days, and shift preferences.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize safety in all warehouse operations.
- Maintain production and inventory reports using Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, scanners, or manual entries.
- Bring material to the production line while tracking movement in the ERP system.
- Prepare documentation for contracts, transactions, or regulatory compliance.
- Package objects for shipping and stock supplies or merchandise.
- Manually unload materials or equipment and read work orders to determine material or setup requirements.
- Store items or palletize individual items as needed; inspect items for damage or defects.
- Record shipping information and attach identification information to products, items, or containers.
- Receive shipments, complete all documentation, and inspect shipments to ensure correct order fulfillment.
- Maintain a clean work area at all times and report all issues to management.
- Deliver items and monitor inventories of products or materials.
- Perform inventory cycles as needed, reconcile counts, and report results to the Warehouse Manager.
- Adhere to current FIFO and FEFO practices when pulling raw materials or moving finished products.
- Distribute materials to employees or customers and clean facilities or equipment.
- Store records or related materials and remove debris or damaged materials.
- Send information, materials, or documentation and maintain operational records.
- Operate forklifts or other loaders and service/maintain forklifts as needed.
- Operate automated equipment/machinery to complete assigned tasks.
- Receive and unload incoming material, pick and pack outgoing materials, and compare packing slips with purchase orders to verify accuracy.
- Process return shipments from customers and inspect shipments for damages or defects; record discrepancies or damages and notify relevant personnel.
- Sort, count, package, label, verify count, unpack, and/or log inventory which is shipped or received.
- Resolve receiving issues and follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Adhere to quality and customer service standards set forth by the company.
- Conduct physical cycle counts on inventory and equipment as required.
- Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment.
- Pick, wrap, and stage orders to be shipped and identify safety hazards in the workplace.
- Consolidate partial pallets for incoming goods.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years’ experience operating powered forklifts.
- One year of warehouse processes, receiving, and material storage using an ERP system is preferred.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of various material-handling equipment is an asset.
- Proficient in mathematics.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently during shift.
- Ability to bend, stoop, stand, walk, and climb throughout the shift.
