Responsibilities

  • Respond to inquiries from customers, contractors, dealers, and employees regarding the availability of natural gas service for residential conversions, light commercial projects, and other assigned opportunities.
  • Provide information on natural gas products, sales programs, equipment options, sales requirements, and sales processes.
  • Explain the responsibilities of plumbing, HVAC, and underground contractors related to gas service and meter installations.
  • Conduct outbound calls to prospective and existing customers to promote and facilitate natural gas conversions, products, services, and rebate programs.
  • Assist customers with gas service applications, installation requirements, equipment options, and associated costs.
  • Act as a customer advocate throughout the new business process by proactively tracking projects, resolving concerns, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Monitor project progress and coordinate follow-up activities with internal teams, contractors, and customers to ensure timely processing of applications and installation of facilities.
  • Create and maintain new business projects using systems such as OpenGrid360 and Salesforce to support cost estimates, infrastructure installations, and customer account management.
  • Review project documentation, site plans, and related materials for accuracy and completeness to prevent delays and ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Generate and review reports to prioritize workload and maintain project timelines.
  • Work independently to discuss and recommend appropriate gas service installation solutions based on customer needs and company guidelines.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of company policies, procedures, products, services, tariffs, and jurisdictional regulations.
  • Accurately research and respond to customer inquiries using company records and computer-based systems.
  • Resolve customer concerns related to natural gas conversions, products, and services while maintaining positive business relationships.
  • Document customer interactions and enter information into company databases to support reporting and operational requirements.
  • Utilize strong communication and information-gathering skills to ensure accuracy, reduce callbacks, and minimize delays in the sales process.
  • Support shift work requirements as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field and a minimum of one (1) year of inside or outside sales experience; OR
  • Associate degree in Business Administration or a related field and three (3) years of inside or outside sales experience; OR
  • High school diploma or GED and five (5) years of inside or outside sales experience; OR
  • Equivalent experience in telephone sales or high-volume, product-focused customer service centric environment may be considered in place of sales experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a Writing Skills Evaluation Assessment.
  • Demonstrated sales and customer service skills with the ability to support company growth and customer satisfaction objectives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to accurately gather, interpret, and document customer information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment when working within established guidelines and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of natural gas equipment installation and operation.
  • Familiarity with OpenGrid360, SAP, Salesforce, ESRI Polaris, or similar utility systems.
  • Knowledge of plumbing and natural gas OM codes and regulations.
  • Understanding of natural gas and electrical appliance operation, gas line installation practices, and related industry standards.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work shifts as required.
  • Union: Yes — Bargaining Unit/Local: Office and Professional Employees International Union, Local No. 2.
  • Rate Classification: Grade 6A — $30.84 per hour, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Number of Positions Available: 1.
  • Current union members will receive priority on these vacancies, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
