WGL- Associate Climate and Energy Analyst
About the role
The Job Description Associate Climate and Energy Analyst supports the regulatory and climate strategy of the business, focusing on emerging regulatory and policy needs, data management, and scenario modeling.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and research regulatory and policy developments on a broad range of utility topics.
- Support cross-functional data-driven compliance, reporting, and filing requirements.
- Prepare research and analysis using Company data for expert testimony, particularly on decarbonization and emissions.
- Analyze and monitor company data, support scenario modeling, and evaluate data responsive to state and federal actions, industry/technology developments, and peer company activities.
- Build and maintain large data models based on new and developed databases, as directed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business, Economics, Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience involving a combination of financial analysis, strategic scenario analysis, evaluation of climate or energy use issues, and/or strategy consulting is preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work in a team, as well as independently, and a willingness to shift focus and activity to accomplish the departmental objective(s) with the highest priority.
- Strong quantitative analytical skills and attention to detail, with a growth mindset and effective communication skills to interpret results and translate them for various audiences.
- Proficiency of Microsoft office tools – PowerPoint & Excel, computer programming such as Python, use of data tools such as R or Stata, and knowledge of business intelligence (BI) tools.
- Proficiency with overlaying databases such as SQL or in Excel with geospatial mapping tools such as GIS or QGIS desired.
Pay
A competitive salary range of $66,000 to $95,700 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
