About the role

The Summer Day Camp LIT Coordinator/Senior Counselor position at Day Camp at Wells Ave is available for the 2026 Summer season. This role involves leading a team of counselors in providing a full day of camp activities including traditional games, sports, arts and crafts, swim lessons, hiking, free swim, nature walks, and camp-wide fun. The successful candidate will be responsible for modeling the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of counselors in planning and executing a variety of camp activities
  • Model and promote the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
  • Ensure safety and supervision of campers throughout the day
  • Collaborate with other staff members to maintain a positive and inclusive camp environment
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of new counselors

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience working with children
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Pass a background check

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Experience in a similar role preferred
  • Knowledge of YMCA values and mission

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Counselors work full days during the summer season, typically from June through August.
