Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Wellpoint Technician is to provide support for wellpointing operational activities by completing the setup, installation, removal, and teardown of wellpoint systems at jobsites, and to assist in mobilization and demobilization to and from jobsites. The Wellpoint Technician will generally work under the direct supervision of Wellpoint Operator II or higher. The Wellpoint Technician will serve as a working team member and individual contributor to the overall team’s success.
Typical Duties And Responsibilities
- Complete wellpointing operational support activities with little supervision including hand jetting wells, dropping wellpoints, handling the wellpoint hose, operating the jet pump, assembling boots and clamps, and moving and preparing other materials
- Assemble and complete wellpoint system layouts with intermittent supervision; be able to independently identify the various components of wellpoint systems such as pipes, fittings, sizes, etc.
- Perform boot and clamp inspections, QA/QC procedures, wellpoint system tuning, and whole system setup under direct supervision
- Train on running the jet pump; perform daily visual inspections of the jet pump and jet trailer under direct supervision and learn how to properly maintain the jet pump
- Learn how to properly operate, troubleshoot, and maintain pumps, pumping equipment, and generators including how to start, power up, monitor, inspect, etc.
- Set up and tear down equipment and systems for assigned projects
- Load, unload and transport materials and equipment to/from job sites
- Move and/or maintain pumps, compressors, generators, hoses, and other equipment under supervision utilizing proper rigging, lift, and suspended load procedures
- Complete minor repairs of equipment on site as well as preventive maintenance on assigned vehicles or equipment as directed and as required
- Clean, organize and maintain jobsites, yard and shop areas as required
- Adhere to applicable company and regulatory agency environmental, health and safety standards; ensure safe work practices at all times
- Ensure all policies and procedures outlined in the Fleet Safety Program, including DOT requirements, are followed when driving a company vehicle
- Participate in site safety activities such as JSA’s, safety observations, incident reports, etc.
- Maintain and complete all necessary paperwork per company policy
- Enroll in Mersino’s internal CDL-A training program (without airbrakes)
- Ensure that The Mersino Way is a guiding document in all daily activities
Qualifications
- 6-9+ months of experience as a Wellpoint Laborer
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license in state of residence and a clean driving record
- Valid DOT Medical Card
- Ability to obtain a CDL-A license without airbrakes
- OSHA 10 Certification
- Rigging and Signalperson Certification
