Wellness Specialist-Peer Professional

About the role

Bridgeway Behavioral Health Services is seeking a Wellness Specialist-Peer Professional to join their team in Bound Brook, New Jersey. This position offers a salary range of $44,000 - $51,000 annually, with a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the frequent monitoring and assessment of the mental health status of persons receiving services, including significant others, the home, and the community.
• Develops psychosocial and comprehensive assessments and individualized recovery plans with the team.
• Ensures timely and quality documentation to adhere to DMHAS/Medicaid standards.
• Sets up and participates in clinical and non-clinical team meetings, including individual and team supervision.
• Seeks out monthly supervision from the supervisor.
• Teaches skills to support each person's individualized recovery journey and engages in peer perspective during meetings/interactions.
• Shares personal life experiences to enhance engagement and validation with individuals.
• Assists in securing safe, clean, affordable housing, food, and clothing, as well as medical and dental services.
• Monitors service recipients' concerns, symptoms, and behaviors in response to medication and monitors medication side-effects.
• Provides wellness services including education and cognitive/behavioral interventions on nutrition, diet, exercise, stress reduction strategies, and other wellness tools.
• Rapidly responds to crises, including accompanying individuals to screening centers/psychiatric emergency centers and remaining with the person during the assessment process.
• Utilizes evidenced-based practices such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral interventions, and teaching strategies.
• Trains and instructs individuals at home and in the community on personal hygiene tasks, household chores, money management, and community transportation.
• Maintains symptom assessment and management, medication monitoring, and education on side effects for individuals and families/significant others with service recipients' consent.
• Supports persons served to find and maintain employment and/or education/training.
• Supports the service recipient's family and other members of their social network to help manage symptoms and related consequences of the illness, reduce family and social stress, and achieve wellness.

Requirements

• Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or two or more individuals may share the Wellness Specialist-Peer Professional position.
• Driver’s License, Vehicle: Valid driver’s license required, no more than one moving violation within the past 12 months, vehicle required.
