About the Role
The Wellness Office Nurse Coordinator coordinates office-based nursing operations, records, and communication to support consistent and responsive wellness services. This role helps organize clinical workflows, follow-up tasks, and care coordination within the wellness office. The coordinator monitors workflow priorities, ensures timely response to health-related needs, prepares summaries and reports, and assists with scheduling and process organization. The position supports quality improvement and operational consistency while promoting responsive, well-organized, and person-centered nursing coordination.
Responsibilities
- Complete Annual Nursing Assessments, Self-Medication Assessments, Choking Risk Assessments, AIMS, and Fall Assessments
- Complete Focal Assessments and Comprehensive Assessments
- Administer injectable medications and perform sterile procedures
- Monitor Therap Health Tracking
- Assess and monitor wounds, perform dressing changes, remove staples and sutures
- Monitor medication administration and administer medications per prescriptions, standing orders, or verbal orders from a physician
- Develop, implement, and follow through on plans of care for people in services
- Supervise and assess MAC workers, ensuring adherence to protocols
- Be available for periodic inspection, evaluation, and consultation through physical presence or electronic/telephonic communication
- Update and maintain medication administration records
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure orders are carried out as prescribed
- Conduct group home audits and attend in-service education programs and staff meetings
- Complete ER and Hospital GERs in accordance with documentation requirements and reporting procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned to maintain compliance with ADMH, ABN, or Arc policy
Requirements
- Unencumbered RN license by the Alabama Board of Nursing
- Completion of ABN-approved MAS Nurse training in ADMH Community Programs
- CPR certification and CPI training
- 4-year bachelor's degree
Skills & Competencies
- Review, update, and maintain medical records
- Complete and process medical documentation
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and pharmacies to ensure prescribed orders are carried out
- Communicate with team members, staff, and natural supports regarding healthcare of people served
- Reconcile person-served medications monthly and as needed
- Complete new admission paperwork and perform hospital follow-up
- Conduct hospital discharges and review Therap Health Tracking
- Train MAC workers to perform assigned duties
- Administer medications per prescriptions, standing orders, or verbal orders
- Provide MAC training
Working Conditions
- Use of medical and office equipment including computers, phones, and medical tools
- May require wearing protective gear such as gloves, masks, and lab coats
- Physical activities include standing, walking, lifting, and performing medical procedures
- Work is performed in clinical and office settings with occasional travel
