Job Summary
The IT Project Specialist will manage and coordinate WMS-related technology projects and implementation activities to support agency operations, ensuring service continuity and project objectives.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple concurrent initiatives impacting more than 20,000 WMS users citywide
- Ensure projects are completed in accordance with operational, technical, and business requirements
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee WMS-related technology projects and implementation activities
- Develop project schedules, implementation plans, milestones, and deployment strategies
- Track project deliverables, dependencies, risks, and implementation issues and develop recommendations
- Coordinate testing, deployment, validation, and post-implementation activities to ensure operational readiness and successful transition to support teams
- Provide project status updates, implementation progress reports, and issue escalation documentation to management and stakeholders
Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain
- An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting the Welfare Management System (WMS) and its supporting technologies
- Experience coordinating technology projects, infrastructure implementations, and enterprise deployment initiatives within a large-scale IT environment
- Experience planning and coordinating agency relocations, office restacks, workstation deployments, and technology deployment activities
- Experience working with structured cabling vendors, security vendors, audiovisual vendors, telecommunications providers, and technical support teams
- Experience collaborating with New York State ITS, OTDA, vendors, and business stakeholders to support enterprise technology initiatives and operational projects
- Experience supporting enterprise printer modernization efforts, equipment refresh programs, and technology deployment initiatives
- Strong project coordination, planning, organizational, and time management skills
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems, preferably SUSE Linux, including enterprise system administration concepts
- Familiarity with Unisys mainframe-connected environments, distributed computing infrastructures, and enterprise systems integration
- Experience using IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms, such as ServiceNow, NYS-ITSM, or similar systems, to manage incidents, service requests, and operational activities
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, operational priorities, and technology initiatives in a fast-paced, enterprise environment
Hours/Shift
9:00AM – 5:00PM and after hours/weekends, if required.
