Welding Team Lead
Massie Manufacturing, Inc., a welding and fabrication company, is seeking an experienced Welding Team Lead in Baraga, Michigan.
About the role
The Welding Team Lead plays a critical role in overseeing daily production within assigned work areas. This position leads and supports a team of welders, promotes safe and efficient work practices, and ensures products consistently meet quality and production standards. The Team Lead also helps achieve company goals related to productivity, quality, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction throughout the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and support welding team members while promoting teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Assign daily work, set priorities, and keep production on schedule.
- Ensure employees follow safety procedures and report hazards, incidents, and concerns.
- Check work throughout the production process to ensure parts meet quality standards and customer requirements.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and stocked with the correct parts, tools, supplies, and information.
- Share production updates, expectations, risks, and concerns between employees and management.
- Help solve production and equipment problems, support preventive maintenance, and identify ways to reduce downtime, scrap, and waste.
Requirements
- Three or more years of manufacturing or production experience, including one to two years in a team lead or supervisory role.
- Strong hands-on welding and manufacturing knowledge, with the ability to step in and help when needed.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, work instructions, and quality requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- A positive, dependable, and team-focused approach with a commitment to quality and customer service.
- Ability to manage priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other basic office software.
Qualifications
Advanced education, technical training, or certification in manufacturing, welding, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
Pay
$24 – $34 per hour based on skills and experience. Weekly paycheck. Discretionary, performance-based bonus.
Schedule
Full-time position: Monday-Thursday 6am – 3:30pm, Friday 6am – 10am.
