What You'll Do
- Perform MIG welding on steel components in accordance with engineering drawings and welding specifications.
- Lead daily welding activities to support production schedules and quality expectations.
- Perform first-piece inspections for both robotic and manual welding operations.
- Load, verify, and troubleshoot robotic welding programs.
- Assign and prioritize work based on production requirements.
- Train, coach, and mentor new and existing welders on welding techniques, robotic processes, quality standards, and safe work practices.
- Position, align, clamp, and tack components prior to welding.
- Inspect completed welds for quality, penetration, appearance, and conformance to specifications.
- Prepare parts for welding by cleaning, grinding, beveling, or other required methods.
- Repair weld defects, cracks, or damaged components as needed.
- Remove slag, spatter, and excess weld material to produce a clean finished product.
- Work closely with supervisors and quality personnel to resolve welding or production issues.
- Promote a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Several years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience leading, training, or mentoring employees is preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment welding test.
- Ability to obtain AWS D1.1 certification within 12 months of hire.
- Experience operating or supporting robotic welding equipment is preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and manufacturing drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
- Stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Regularly use hands to handle tools, materials, and equipment.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and occasionally climb or balance.
- Must have close vision, depth perception, and the ability to evaluate weld quality.
Work Environment
- This position is performed in a manufacturing environment where employees are regularly exposed to moving mechanical equipment, welding fumes, airborne particles, heat, vibration, and loud noise.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
