About the role

Precision Custom Components (PCC) is seeking a talented Welding Supervisor (2nd Shift) to join our team. This is an on-site position reporting to our manufacturing facility in York, PA. You'll be part of a skilled team delivering high-quality, made-to-spec components where precision, reliability, and customer focus matter.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, guidance, and direction to the hourly personnel assigned to the department/shift, including making work assignments, and providing personnel training.
  • Establish, define, and coordinate respective shift work assignments in relation to contractual requirements, personnel qualifications, and production schedules and skill capabilities.
  • Ensure that work is completed in accordance with all contractual/operating requirements, Company objectives and in compliance with established quality standards.
  • Train, upgrade skills, and utilize human resources to optimal usage.
  • Maintain accurate records related to department/shift activities.
  • Educate and direct the department workforce in the importance of performing all activities in accordance with established safety practice. Supports resolution of safety deficiencies within the department.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of hourly employees on production work, or quality assurance work, which is within their determined skill capabilities and/or qualifications.
  • Enforce company work rules and implement disciplinary action when necessary. Conduct regular assessment of employee performance, participate in improving morale and work performance.
  • Provide training of personnel to maximize flexibility and efficiency.
  • Control hourly workforce activities/equipment within departmental expense allowances.
  • Control work assignments in support of shipment objectives and cash flow plan. Direct reporting of manufacturing labor hours to develop accurate cost records.
  • Develop improved methods of manufacturing that result in improved efficiencies and reduction of costs.
  • Supervise workforce activities to ensure integrity of product complies with established quality standards.
  • Control workforce assignments in support of production schedules.
  • Provide measuring techniques to assure optimal operating performance.
  • Direct workforce activities to achieve maximum utilization of capital resources, tooling, and equipment.
  • Monitor and enforce acceptable housekeeping standards.
  • Interface with project engineering personnel to recommend and request modifications to planning to keep human error to a minimum and to improve the manufacturing processes, within budgetary costs.
  • Report any equipment breakdowns and coordinate repairs to maintain production schedules.
  • Provide timely communication to the following shift in matters pertaining to department activities, issues, etc.

Qualifications

  • A High School/Trade School diploma, or other related post-high school education desirable.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing with an emphasis in weld, preferably in manufacturing environments which are similar to those at the company.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory/management experience in manufacturing.
  • Excellent computer skills required. Must be capable of working with systems and Microsoft applications such as WORD, Excel and Outlook.
  • A working knowledge related to the welding processes being supervised: GTAW, FCAW, SMAW, SAW, GMAW-P, GMAW.
  • Must be able to set up efficient workstations for upcoming jobs.
  • Excellent blueprint reading capabilities.
  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and support multiple priorities/multiple deliverables.

Pay

$67,000 - $77,000 per year

Schedule

2nd shift (3:30pm-11:55pm)
