Responsibilities
- Support and strive toward safety in all facets of the manufacturing facility.
- Resolve safety problems that arise and complete required paperwork.
- Effectively document incidents or near-miss investigations.
- Absorb and perform nonconformance investigations and root cause analysis.
- Effectively monitor and adjust productivity and efficiency of workers to plant performance standards.
- Ensure shop equipment is tracked, maintained, and available as required.
- Supervise and direct welders, material handlers, machine operators, and sanders.
- Promote cross-training within the workforce.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assign duties.
- Plan the flow of materials through the department.
- Work with fume control equipment such as downdraft tables and methods of fume control.
- May supervise large vertical milling and drilling machines.
- Direct workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products that fail to meet standards.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Support Hunter Excellence and Value Stream Initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with peers, subordinates, and management.
- Assist with recruitment and hiring of plant personnel.
- Contribute, make recommendations, and implement practices to control and reduce departmental and overall costs.
Requirements
- Undergraduate or associate’s degree in engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
- 5 years’ demonstrated manufacturing supervisory experience in related industry.
- AWS Certified Welder, required.
- Knows MIG welding process for mild and stainless steel.
Qualifications
- Dynamic and engaging leadership skills.
- Possesses a high level of mechanical and ironwork aptitude.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement, highly desirable.
- Interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
