Welding Lab Assistant

About the role

Provides technical assistance to students either in a classroom or laboratory setting and assists with teaching students according to established policies and procedures under the supervision of the welding instructor.

The rate for this position is $20.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Provides group instruction and one-on-one tutoring; communicates and explains familiar and new concepts to students with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of welding skills (60%).
• Assists students in the use of equipment (35%).
• Keeps the lab clean and organized (5%).

• Demonstrates strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Promotes the educational values of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the lab.
• Maintains the confidentiality of student records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
• Complies with all laws and regulations related to higher education.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year work experience as a welder or welding degree/certificate required.
• Previous experience as a teacher or lab assistant is preferred.
