Welding Engineer - Technical Sales Representative
About the role
Linde Gas & Equipment Inc. is seeking a Welding Engineer - Technical Sales Representative to join our team in Tacoma, WA. This role involves conducting detailed on-site assessments, identifying productivity improvements, and supporting the sales cycle for automated capital equipment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed on-site assessments of customer fabrication processes, welding procedures, consumable usage, and workflow efficiency
- Identify productivity improvements through optimized gases, consumables, welding parameters, automation readiness, and process standardization
- Deliver technical product demonstrations, performance evaluations, and competitive comparisons
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to support territory strategy
- Develop value-based proposals that quantify cost savings, throughput gains, and quality improvements
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and operations teams to align solutions with customer requirements
- Support additional technical and commercial initiatives as needed
- Lead the full sales cycle for automated capital equipment including robotics, welding automation, CNC automation, and material handling systems
- Perform on-site evaluations to identify production bottlenecks and automation opportunities
- Create ROI models, cost-benefit analyses, and productivity improvement justifications for capital investments
- Work with engineering teams to design system configurations, layouts, and integration plans
- Provide system walk-throughs, automation demonstrations, and technical evaluations

Requirements
- Associate degree in welding technology or similar; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred
- More than seven (7+) years of outside sales experience, ideally in welding, fabrication, or industrial equipment
- Strong technical understanding of welding processes (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW), shielding gases, consumables, and fabrication workflows
- Prior industry experience is required
- Welding Inspector or Welding Educator certification preferred

Pay
Pay Range: $108,225 - $128,730 yearly based on experience
