Responsibilities
- Provides daily expert technical oversight for welding procedures, weld technicians, and associate welding production issues.
- Manages welding qualifications, creates and maintains welding procedures, analyzes designs for welding requirements, and reviews customer welding specifications.
Requirements
- BS Engineering degree, Mechanical Engineering degree or other from accredited engineering program
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) preferred
- 4+ years of experience, practical hands-on experience preferred
- Participates and leads welding qualifications including weld procedure development, testing plans, review of testing results, writing weld procedures, and interfacing with customer subject matter experts to finalize weld procedures.
- Establishes welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, and pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of complete alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joins, and complex post-heating requirements.
- Strong understanding of industry codes (ASME, API, AWS, DNVGL, etc.), destructive testing, NDE methods, and arc welding processes.
- Experience with welding parameters development, writing WPQR(s) and WPS(s).
- Performs complex welding engineering tasks with minimal supervision and direction from a manager or lead.
- Extensive knowledge of company welding and PWHT processes and applications.
- Initiates and implements improvements, innovations, and solutions of welding and PWHT technologies and capabilities.
- Accountable for quality and compliance of welding documentation.
- Supports lower-level Welding Engineers.

- Frequent standing, using hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reaching with hands and arms; talking or hearing.
- Occasional walking; sitting; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment/Conditions
- Primarily indoors in a smoke-free office and manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.
- Occasional assignments may require remote accessing and may include evening or weekend schedules.
- The noise level is usually moderate.
- Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
