About the role
Allied Reliability is seeking a Welding and Fabrication Supervisor for a major fruit processing company and leading brand manufacturer of jams, sweets, and custard-based desserts located in Plymouth, Indiana. The facility produces fruit and dairy preparations for customers including yogurt, ice cream, and bakery manufacturers. The supervisor oversees inspection, maintenance, and repair of totes to ensure they meet operational, safety, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day tote inspection and repair activities.
- Assign tasks and monitor workload across the repair team.
- Ensure damaged totes are identified, sorted, repaired, or removed from circulation according to company standards.
- Maintain quality control over completed repairs to ensure totes are safe and fit for reuse.
- Train and coach team members on repair methods, safety procedures, and quality expectations.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements in the repair area.
- Coordinate with warehouse, operations, maintenance, and quality teams to prioritize repair needs.
- Monitor tools, equipment, and spare materials required for repair activities.
- Report performance metrics, operational issues, and improvement opportunities to management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce tote loss, damage, and repair cycle time.
- Track repair volumes, turnaround times, scrap levels, and material usage to maximize tote availability for operations.
- Maintain high repair quality and safety standards while reducing waste and replacement costs.
- Improve repair efficiency and team productivity.
- Ensure an organized, compliant, and safe repair workspace.
- Lead and motivate a small operational team and work cross-functionally with operations and support teams.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with some formal technical training in welding and fabrication.
- Experience in a supervisor, warehouse, maintenance, repair, or production environment.
- Good understanding of repair processes, quality checks, and workplace safety.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Basic reporting and recordkeeping skills.
- Welding experience in TIG/MIG, with certification for sanitary welding in the food industry.
- Mill experience and fabrication experience in stainless/carbon steel.
- Familiarity with lean, 5S, or continuous improvement practices.
- Experience using warehouse or maintenance tracking systems.
