Welder Senior - Night Shift
Senior level position responsible for completing routine welding assignments within clearly defined processes. Works under moderate supervision.
Responsibilities
- Uses metal core MIG, TIG, flux-core, sub-arc, or stick welding process (must pass three or more)
- Ability to pass applicable test(s) and applicable Non-Destructive Exam
- May weld brackets and braces and use grinders
- May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
- May perform position welds on code materials
- Quality X-ray and ultrasound test welds with minimum rework
- Proficient in flame and plasma cutting torches and automated equipment
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints and fit up pipe, flanges, etc. with minimal supervision
- Must be able to operate basic cutting equipment
- Promotes and supports safety, production, and positive attitude
- Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department
- Requires employee to rarely type and use a computer and other office equipment, such as copier, printer, calendar, telephones, etc.
- Requires operation of heavy equipment such as welding tools on a constant frequency and forklift on an occasional frequency
Requirements
- Knowledge of different types and sizes of pipe, structural, and vessel materials
- Must pass a 3G test for vessel/tower or 6G test pipe
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Certification to weld on pipe or plate (preferred)
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
Qualifications
- High School Diploma (required)
- Welding School (preferred)
Physical Requirements
- Requires employee to stand for at least 90% of the time
- Requires employee to sit for at least 10% of the time
- Requires employee to occasionally inspect equipment, climb stairs or ladders, and maintain balance without assistance
- Must be able to communicate and respond to coworkers and emergency cues/alarms, in person and on the telephone, including use of mobile devices
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Requires work in outdoor conditions, including all weather conditions and un-airconditioned facility
- Requires work in a loud environment
- Requires moving and maintaining self in different positions: stoop, kneel, crouch to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
- Must wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, helmets, face shields, hearing protection, safety goggles, steel-toed boots, as applicable
- Position rarely requires travel or driving
