Welders are the primary constructors of vessels at Feldmeier Equipment. The role is varied and may include general work tasks beyond welding, depending on daily workload.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all Feldmeier safety and company policies, and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
- TIG weld, spot weld, and MIG weld stainless steel.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts.
- Layout component locations per instructions.
- Prepare work surfaces via cutting and finishing.
- Weld small and large components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions using appropriate techniques.
- Set up and operate equipment for assigned jobs.
- Complete housekeeping duties in assigned areas or as requested by management.
- Complete required paperwork and log time in the MES system.
Requirements
- BOCES welding certificate or 6 months of welding experience.
- Previous fabricating experience.
- Ability to read measuring tapes and operate tools such as grinders and welding torches.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 or more years of TIG experience.
- Experience welding with different alloys.
- Proficiency in welding in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, and maneuvering up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and platforms for elevated work.
- Walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, balancing, stooping, lying down inside or under vessels, and twisting.
- Comfortable in chemically hazardous situations; must use proper PPE when required.
- Ability to hold a 4–8 lb grinder for prolonged periods while applying force.
- Ability to grasp a welding torch for brief to long periods while welding parts.
Pay
$22.00–$31.50 per hour, with a $2.00 night shift differential.
