Welder Northwest
About the role
The Welder works as part of a crew to weld gas pipe. Responsibilities include welding service tees and tie-ins, tapping with Mueller fittings, working with 12-inch steel pipe, and assembling and welding gas piping of various sizes. The position also involves loading, unloading, and transporting construction materials and tools, signaling operators, preparing pipe alignment, communicating with site foremen, following safety standards, and some in-state travel.
Responsibilities
- Welding service tees and tie-ins
- Tapping with Mueller fittings
- Working with 12-inch steel pipe
- Assembling and welding gas piping of various sizes
- Communicating and assisting as needed, through site foreman
- Following safety standards throughout the process, including while digging trenches, sliding pipe into trenches, and coating joints
- Signals Operators to help facilitate movement or alignment of equipment
- Prepares pipe alignment on worksite
- Some in state travel required
Qualifications & Required Knowledge/Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must pass Wisconsin Utility Association (WUA) weld test
- Must have tapping experience tapping with Mueller fittings
- Experience welding gas mains preferred
- Education in Gas & Utilities Construction preferred
- Possesses a valid Driver's License in good standing, Class A CDL preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required
- Must be able to bend/kneel/stand/walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift/push/pull at least 50 lbs. regularly
