Welder I – Day Shift ($24.09/Hr+)

About the role

Oshkosh Vocational Tennessee is seeking a dedicated team of purpose-driven individuals to join our workforce. Located off Joe B Jackson Parkway, this new facility offers a less congested commute compared to Nashville.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, job cards, bill of materials, and routing sheets
• Set up and assemble various components for welding
• Work within precise limits and perform bench, MIG, and/or TIG welding on aluminum components
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Communicate verbally with co-workers to ensure a safe working environment
• Operate a crane/hoist for heavy lifting
• Assist co-workers with heavy lifting of parts
• Understand the differences in parts and tools

Requirements

• 6 months or more of relevant experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent education
• Previous welding experience
• Proficient in MIG welding as demonstrated by an on-site weld skills test

Qualifications

• Welding/Metal Fabrication certificate, technical diploma, or associate degree in related field
• Previous experience constructing large weldments
• Blueprint reading skills

• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and other co-workers
• Ability to recognize and react to abnormal operating conditions
• Ability to use and operate hand and power tools
• Ability to lift light and/or heavy parts on and off a cart, floor, shelf, etc.
• Ability to operate and access heavy equipment safely and effectively

Pay

Competitive Pay - pay based on experience and education, minimum starting rate at $21.32 per hour within the first 6 months, pay would increase to a minimum of $24.09.

Schedule

Shift Overview: Monday - Thursday, four 10-hour days, 6:00am-4:30pm
