Responsibilities

  • Assemble parts for the welding process, including drilling, grinding, and welding.
  • Maintain clean and safe working environments.
  • Communicate verbally with co-workers to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks.
  • Read blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Set up parts for the welding process.
  • Grind, drill, cut, clamp, caulk, tack weld, bench weld, and/or sub welds.
  • May also assemble parts.
  • Weld sheet metal materials.
  • Apply measurements to parts and equipment.
  • Use and operate hand and power tools.
  • Lift light and/or heavy parts on and off carts, floors, shelves, etc.
  • Operate a crane/hoist for heavy lifting.
  • Assist co-workers with heavy lifting of parts.
  • Understand the differences between parts and tools.
  • Work required hours and maintain excellent attendance.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Sweep and clean shop area.

Qualifications

  • Previous welding experience.
  • Ability to obtain a certificate in Welding with Pierce Manufacturing.
  • To complete essential functions, an Associate's degree in Welding or certification as a Certified Welder is preferred.
  • Blue print reading skills are necessary.

  • Tolerates constant standing for the entire shift.
  • Tolerates occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling for below-waist work.
  • Maintains balance when walking and standing on potentially slippery work floors while welding.
  • Maintains balance when climbing on portable steps.
  • Performs welding/assembling tasks while in awkward positions.
  • Individually lifts and manipulates parts/equipment weighing up to 80 pounds.
  • Operates and accesses heavy equipment safely and effectively.
  • Remembers task sequences and safety constraints.

Pay

Starting rate: $29.28 per hour
Second Shift Premium: $2.00 per hour
Merit increases at 6 months, 12 months, and annually.

Schedule

Openings are on 2nd shift.
Shift times and overtime hours vary depending on position, department, and location.
2nd shift: Monday – Thursday, four 10-hour days, overtime worked at the end of shift and on Fridays and occasionally Saturdays.
