About the role
A Welder at REV fabricates and welds parts and assemblies for ambulances, working with various metals and welding procedures as prescribed in AWS and ASME publications. The role involves heavy MIG welding of aluminum, along with STICK (SMAW) welding in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints and perform shop math to convert fractions to decimals for layout, fabrication, and welding of parts and assemblies.
- Perform MIG and STICK welding (SMAW) on multiple types of metals in various positions.
- Use grinders, sanders, rivet guns, saws, and other air tools, as well as read imperial tape measures and measuring devices.
- Inspect welds for defects such as cracks, burn-through, weld spatter, lack of fusion, and craters.
- Follow verbal and written directions in English.
- Maintain a safe work environment and perform maintenance on welding equipment as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience in welding using MIG or TIG welding machines.
- Must pass and maintain in-house AWS Welder Certification.
- General knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.
Physical Demands
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and climbing in and out of vehicles.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
- Ability to work with arms above head and from ladders or scaffolding.
- Must not be allergic to smoke, grinding dust, or fiberglass dust.
- Ability to work in 105-degree heat for extended periods (10+ hours per day).
- Overtime may be required, including up to three Fridays per month.
