Welder, Huron SD

Join our team at Terex in Huron, SD as a Welder and help turn raw steel into the structural foundations of utility trucks and equipment that keep people safe.

Responsibilities

• Fit, tack, and weld steel components for aerial devices and digger derricks using GMAW/FCAW processes, following approved weld procedures and engineering drawings.
• Read and interpret blueprints and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), set up jigs/fixtures, prep and finish welds (grinding/chipping), and perform in-process checks to ensure work meets specifications the first time.
• Adhere to Terex “Zero Harm” safety expectations, including required PPE, hot-work controls, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) when applicable; maintain a hazard-free and orderly work area.
• Use overhead cranes and material-handling equipment to safely stage, position, and transfer parts.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and your team to solve problems, reduce rework/distortion, and support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives.
• Participate in training (including weld school/skills development and robotic welding) to expand capabilities and progress through defined skill levels.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience welding steel using GMAW (MIG) and/or FCAW in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and work instructions.
• Working knowledge of weld quality standards and ability to perform basic visual inspections.
• Ability to safely use overhead cranes, hoists, and material-handling equipment (or willingness to be trained).
• Strong commitment to safety, including consistent use of PPE and adherence to hot-work requirements.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning materials.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned shifts (including weekends, if applicable).

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical diploma or coursework in welding or fabrication.
• Previous experience welding structural or heavy-gauge steel.
• Familiarity with AWS welding standards.
• Experience working in a team-based manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to learn additional processes, including robotic welding or advanced fabrication skills.

Pay

$23.41 to $27.94 per hour.
