Welder/Fitter/Fabricator - 2nd Shift (M - F 3:30p to 1:00a)

About the role

Compass Systems is seeking a 2nd Shift Welders for their Barberton, Ohio location.

Responsibilities

• Drive forklift to move parts into and out of work area.
• Must be able to safely rig and move parts with overhead crane.
• Read detailed blueprints and follow instructions.
• Layout, fit, and weld metal parts to hit critical dimensions.
• Weld in all positions with mig, stick, and tig.
• Check proper wire, gas, and machine settings on welder.
• Repair or modify existing or refurbished parts.
• Maintain and use oxygen/acetylene torch and hand plasma cutter.
• Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
• Preheat workpiece with torch.
• Safely use and maintain hand tools (grinders, air motors, porta-power, clamps, etc.).
• Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter.
• Show up on time and work scheduled hours.
• Take direction and work well with others.
• Work overtime when needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous welding experience.
• Comfortable welding 22ga – ¾” thick steel or stainless steel.
• Motivated individual possessing the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates positive safety attitude.
• Able to identify problems and inform supervisor.
• Able to stand for 9 or more hours and able to lift up to 75 lbs.
