Welder Fabricator - Motion Solutions

Salary: $27 - $40 hourly, based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Certified Structural Welder per AWS D1.1, Dual Shield
• Weld and understand the process of Welding High Pressure Pipe
• Layout, welding, cutting, and fabrication of structural and pipe associated with hydraulic systems
• Assist in all aspects of the HPU system build process and collaborate with the team
• Melt and apply solder along adjoining edges of workpieces using soldering irons, gas torches, or electric-ultrasonic equipment
• Examine seams for defects and rework defective joints or broken parts
• Melt and separate brazed or soldered joints to remove and straighten damaged or misaligned components
• Melt and apply solder to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products
• Clean workpieces using chemical solutions, files, wire brushes, or grinders
• Guide torches and rods along joints to heat, melt braze alloys, and bond workpieces
• Adjust electric current and timing cycles of resistance welding machines
• Clean equipment parts such as tips of soldering irons using chemical solutions or cleaning compounds
• Align and clamp workpieces using rules, squares, hand tools, fixtures, jigs, or vises
• Sweat together workpieces coated with solder
• Smooth soldered areas with paddles and torches, leaving sections slightly higher for later filing
• Select torch tips, flux, and brazing alloys from data charts or work orders
• Clean joints of workpieces with wire brushes or cleaning solutions
• Grind, cut, buff, or bend edges of workpieces for snug fit using power grinders and hand tools
• Cut carbon electrodes to specified sizes and shapes using cutoff saws
• Develop, maintain, and share current and new product knowledge
• Provide technical resources for others in the organization
• Assist with field service work as needed
• Address and resolve customer requests, complaints, and objections with a positive and creative approach
• Coordinate efforts with all appropriate departments to ensure customer satisfaction
• Adhere to strict safety guidelines

Requirements

• Experience working with welding, fabrication, and hydraulic components and equipment
• Understand measurement techniques and units including metric/SAE conversions and fractions
• Ability to read and understand hydraulic schematics
• Excellent observation skills and mechanical aptitude to detect technical discrepancies and malfunctions
• Excellent oral communication and strong relationship-building skills
• Detail-oriented with solid organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Understanding of the proper use of repair tools, testing machinery, and equipment
• Must supply basic hand tools (wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.)
• Ability to work with a wide variety of people and personalities
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
• Physically present in the office to perform job functions in a collaborative team environment

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. frequently
• Frequent grasping, reaching, standing, and walking with occasional bending and kneeling
• Work environment: primarily inside a workshop, involving bench or test stand work near other technicians
• Occasional work underneath or on large equipment in the shop or field
