Welder/Fabricator -Dickinson, ND

About the role

This individual will perform high-quality cuts and welds on gates, pressure vessels, cattle guards, and structural steel assemblies, working from engineering drawings, weld procedure specifications, and fabrication schematics.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, fit-up, and weld pressure vessels, structural steel assemblies, gates, cattle guards, etc.
• Prepare weld joints to proper dimensions, including grinding, gouging, and cleaning to ensure sound weld quality.
• Weld structural and process piping in multiple positions.
• Fit and tack pipe spools, install flanges, elbows, tees, and other fittings per drawings.
• Fabricate and weld structural steel assemblies including frames, skids, platforms, ladders, handrails, brackets, and supports.
• Perform fit-up and assembly of structural members using squares, levels, clamps, and fixtures to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Support hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, and NDE activities as required.
• Perform visual weld inspections and dimensional checks on completed work prior to QC inspection.
• Maintain welder qualification records and perform continuity welds to keep qualification current.
• Clean and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment at the end of each shift; maintain a safe, organized shop environment.
• Comply with all safety policies, codes, and regulations to protect the safety and health of all employees.
• Follow directions of the Supervisor and arrive for work before the scheduled shift, prepared and ready to start.
• Perform other job duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Applicant must be 18 years or older.
• Must pass a weld test.
• Must be able to read measurements and perform basic math for measurements and tolerances.
• Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, and perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
• Must report to work as scheduled.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must develop and maintain strong work relations with the team.
• Must have effective communication skills.
• Works well as a productive and collaborative member of a fabrication team.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work additional hours, including evenings and weekends, as production schedules or customer demand require.

• Must be adaptable to changing field conditions and operational demands.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol screening, participate in the random testing pool, and remain drug & alcohol-free throughout employment.
• Must pass a motor vehicle record check and background check.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience operating forklift/crane preferred.

Work Environment

This position is performed primarily in an indoor manufacturing shop environment. The work environment regularly involves exposure to welding fumes, arc flash, heat, noise above 85 db, and heavy fabricated materials. The facility operates cranes and powered industrial vehicles. Proper PPE is required at all times in designated areas. Occasional outdoor work may be required for rework.

Schedule

This is a full-time position. Long hours, after-hours, and weekend work are regularly required as job duties demand.
