Welder / Fabricator

Duties/Responsibilities

• Fabricate components using various pieces of equipment in order to clean, cut, bend, tack, and weld parts ranging from simple weldments to complex assemblies
• Select appropriate methods for such fabrication based on available resources
• Meet daily production and quality demands
• Work with other team members and stakeholders to develop weld/fabrication support documentation and best practices
• Ensure compliance with Industry Welding and Fabrication Standards
• Set up and maintain work area, select and verify the materials and tooling needed for production
• Comply with health, safety (including OSHA), and environmental procedures, and ensure the cleanliness of the area
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings to ensure proper dimensions and specifications have been met for fabricated components
• Other duties as needed to support VSC's various racing programs

Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Current welding certification (or the ability to achieve it within 3 months)
• Ability to operate various types of welding and fabrication equipment and tools
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. Knowledge of GD&T is a plus.
• Strong familiarity with the use of precision measurement equipment used in production
• Excellent time management skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required
• Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant welding and fabrication experience
• Proven ability to multi-task and work comfortably in a fast-paced, often-changing environment including excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility
• Proven ability to be a team player with high integrity is a must

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this position, individuals may frequently be required to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• The individual must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
• Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus as required
