Duties/Responsibilities
- Fabricate components using various pieces of equipment in order to clean, cut, bend, tack, and weld parts ranging from simple weldments to complex assemblies
- Select appropriate methods for such fabrication based on available resources
- Meet daily production and quality demands
- Work with other team members and stakeholders to develop weld/fabrication support documentation and best practices
- Ensure compliance with Industry Welding and Fabrication Standards
- Set up and maintain work area, select and verify the materials and tooling needed for production
- Comply with health, safety (including OSHA), and environmental procedures, and ensure the cleanliness of the area
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings to ensure proper dimensions and specifications have been met for fabricated components
- Other duties as needed to support VSC's various racing programs
Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Current welding certification (or the ability to achieve it within 3 months)
- Ability to operate various types of welding and fabrication equipment and tools
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. Knowledge of GD&T is a plus.
- Strong familiarity with the use of precision measurement equipment used in production
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant welding and fabrication experience
- Proven ability to multi-task and work comfortably in a fast-paced, often-changing environment including excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility
- Proven ability to be a team player with high integrity is a must
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this position, individuals may frequently be required to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- The individual must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus as required
