Welder/Fabricator

About the role

Kamco Supply Corp. of New England is one of the largest independent distributors of commercial building materials in the United States, supplying drywall, ceilings, steel framing, insulation, and specialty construction products to contractors and developers nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Fit and weld assemblies per job instructions and drawings.
• Perform code (ASME, AWS or API) compliant welds using GMAW, GTAW & FCAW processes.
• Perform joint preparation per drawings & code specifications.
• Properly use fabrication shop hand tools. (grinders, drills, air tools, etc.)
• Operate forklifts.
• Operate vertical/horizontal band saws.
• Rig, hoist/lift & move materials.
• Maintain safe and clean work environment.

Requirements

• Must be able to prep, set up, fit, and weld GMAW, FCAW 2G, 3G & 4G weld test & GTAW 6G weld test.
• Positive "can do" attitude & strong work ethic.
• Able to take detailed instructions.
• Willing to be challenged to improve welding skills to meet high quality standards.
• Must be able to read & understand weld symbols, weld procedures, mechanical and structural drawings.
• Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe work practices.
• Must be able to use Oxy/fuel & Plasma hand cutting torch.
• Daily housekeeping of shop and/or work area.
• Flexible working schedule to support project needs.

Considered a Plus

• ASME pipe welding experience.
• Fit-up & layout experience on structural/misc. steel and pipe spools.
• GTAW welding in 6G position.
