Responsibilities
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Work in high, precarious, or cramped spaces requiring awkward positions.
- Perform tasks involving standing, walking, sitting, gripping, climbing, reaching, shoveling, squatting, crawling, pulling, pushing, bending, and lifting up to 45 pounds for extended periods.
- Read technical manuals, record repairs on report forms, operate welding machines, and perform related tasks using sufficient language and math skills.
- Perform preventative maintenance repairs following established procedures.
- Prepare the welding area and weld joints.
- Read and interpret welding blueprints.
- Maintain daily reports as required by company regulations.
- Monitor the welding process and make necessary adjustments.
- Operate forklifts and man lifts as needed.
- Assist in maintenance and organization of welding equipment and work area.
- Comply with all safety, health, environmental, and other company policies and procedures.
- Learn to use a variety of hand and power tools, including cutting torches and welding equipment, to rebuild and fabricate parts.
- Travel to other facilities as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of training and work experience.
- Entry-level aggregate welding experience preferred; high school or recreational welding experience is a plus.
- Knowledge to understand oral and written technical instructions related to products and vehicles.
- Ability to operate welding equipment to join metal components.
- Excellent driving skills and ability to maintain satisfactory customer and public relations.
- Good mechanical skills; knowledge of raw materials and production processes preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Must be able to work required overtime and a flexible schedule, including weekends, depending on customer and company demands.
- Ability to work outdoors and exposed to varying or extreme weather conditions (heat, wet, cold, etc.).
