Welder

Responsibilities

• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Work in high, precarious, or cramped spaces requiring awkward positions.
• Perform tasks involving standing, walking, sitting, gripping, climbing, reaching, shoveling, squatting, crawling, pulling, pushing, bending, and lifting up to 45 pounds for extended periods.
• Read technical manuals, record repairs on report forms, operate welding machines, and perform related tasks using sufficient language and math skills.
• Perform preventative maintenance repairs following established procedures.
• Prepare the welding area and weld joints.
• Read and interpret welding blueprints.
• Maintain daily reports as required by company regulations.
• Monitor the welding process and make necessary adjustments.
• Operate forklifts and man lifts as needed.
• Assist in maintenance and organization of welding equipment and work area.
• Comply with all safety, health, environmental, and other company policies and procedures.
• Learn to use a variety of hand and power tools, including cutting torches and welding equipment, to rebuild and fabricate parts.
• Travel to other facilities as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of training and work experience.
• Entry-level aggregate welding experience preferred; high school or recreational welding experience is a plus.
• Knowledge to understand oral and written technical instructions related to products and vehicles.
• Ability to operate welding equipment to join metal components.
• Excellent driving skills and ability to maintain satisfactory customer and public relations.
• Good mechanical skills; knowledge of raw materials and production processes preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects.
• Must be able to work required overtime and a flexible schedule, including weekends, depending on customer and company demands.
• Ability to work outdoors and exposed to varying or extreme weather conditions (heat, wet, cold, etc.).
