About the role
Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines that perform the same job. Maintain and repair all machinery. Assess welded surfaces, structures, and components to identify errors. Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
Responsibilities
- Maintain proper training certification (GTAW, SMAW, SAW, etc.)
- Be able to read all prints issued to the welding department
- Accurately follow welding instructions to provide quality welds within the appropriate approved methods
- Ability to use and operate overhead cranes, torches, grinders, and forklifts
- Work closely and communicate clearly with other departments, weld personnel, supervisors, and leads
- Maintain LEAN objectives within the department
- Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection, and continual improvement
Qualifications
- Knowledge and understanding of turbo machinery repair
- Must have the required tools to perform expected tasks within 6 months of hire
- Must be able to use precision measuring instruments
- Must be able to work overtime when necessary
