How You Will Make An Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. Under the direction of the Machine Shop Manager, the Welder is responsible for fitting and welding of mild steel, aluminum and stainless-steel parts using a TIG and/or MIG process. As the Welder you will perform visual and measurement inspections for in-process and finish production parts. Welder will be expected to maintain quality and safety standard, keep accurate records, and maintain equipment and supplies.
What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)
- Technical Operations:Set up welding machines based on the job at hand or using a Welding Procedure Specification.
- Set up welding cells for serial production runs.
- TIG / MIG weld mild steel, aluminum and stainless-steel components based on the specifications of the blueprints and/or drawings.
- Follow instructions as delivered by supervisor and scheduler, work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, and locations of surfaces.
- Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
- Required Experience:
- Minimum 5 years Welding Experience.
- Experience with mild steel, aluminum and stainless steel.
- Experience with TIG and/or MIG welding.
- Ability to read and interpret welding symbols.
- Basic math, reading and writing skills.
- Mechanical Assembly understanding.
- Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work in team environment to achieve common goal.
- Understanding of conceptual skills, process improvement, verbal communication, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation, supply management, tooling, inventory control, judgment and attention to detail.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Experience with TIG and MIG welding.
- TIG and MIG certifications.
- Experience with process improvement and troubleshooting.
Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Remain standing on feet for long periods of time.
- Frequent carrying, grasping, reaching, pulling, pulling, stooping for parts and supplies.
Education & Certifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Working Environment, Schedule and Travel
- Normal work hours, Monday through Friday.
- 1st shift – 6:00AM to 2:30PM.
- Must be flexible to work overtime as required.
