About the Role
Hand-weld components used to build Ring-O-Matic equipment in a manufacturing plant environment with variable temperature, humidity, noise, and dirt. The role involves working indoors without air conditioning, exposure to physical hazards, and handling hazardous materials.
Responsibilities
- Read information from blueprints, technical manuals, or other documents.
- Set up fixtures, mount parts in fixtures, and perform mechanical assembly using hand and air tools such as wrenches, torque wrenches, impact wrenches, screwdrivers, and hammers.
- Move and position parts, sometimes with a hoist and sometimes manually. Parts typically weigh up to 25 pounds and can be as much as 50 pounds.
- Use a hoist to lift and position large, heavier components and completed weldments.
- Set up, adjust, and operate MIG welding equipment to weld machine components.
- Remove components from fixtures, clean and check them for quality, and correct errors or deficiencies of weldments.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, clients, supervisors, and co-workers through behavior and communication.
- Meet or exceed expectations for productivity, quality, attendance, and safety.
- Work safely by always following safety guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Appropriate MIG welding experience (3 years) OR completion of a formal welding training program/certificate.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Skilled in reading a tape measure.
- Ability to handle items weighing over 50 pounds, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components.
- Mechanical skills, including experience using hand and air-powered tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.).
- Appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills.
- Good work record demonstrating strong self-motivation, reliable attendance, attention to quality, ability to learn new skills, and a cordial, cooperative personality.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and assess, evaluate, and carry out appropriate action for a given situation.
Schedule
Workdays of up to 10 hours. Overtime as necessary.
