About the Role

The Welder will set up, operate, and perform welding tasks to fabricate metal parts and components according to customer specifications. This includes MIG/TIG welding and reviewing drawings to ensure accurate welding of parts.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently employ a diverse range of welding techniques, including Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum.
  • Interpret and comprehend blueprints and formulas to determine precise welding requirements for each project.
  • Use precision instruments such as calipers, tape measures, and squares.
  • Exhibit comprehensive proficiency in TIG and MIG welding techniques as per technical drawings.
  • Collaborate in the production process and support machine operators as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized welding environment.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor, including department transfers or special projects to meet production needs.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • 5+ years of MIG/TIG Welding experience with Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum.
  • Proficient in math and computer skills, including calculating fractions, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Proficient at reading, interpreting, and understanding weld symbols, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Proficient at using quality inspection equipment (gages, micrometers, rulers); GD&T preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to use inspection methods including tape measure, calipers, and fillet gages.
  • Able to interpret AWS weld symbols.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize urgent matters and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering concepts and practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk for the duration of an 8-10 hour shift.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, or bend.
  • Must be able to manually lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision (20/20 or corrected to 20/20).
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles from metalworking coolants and oils.
  • Noise levels in the work environment can be loud; hearing protection is required.
