About the role
The welder/pipe fitter will assemble and install piping systems, pipe supports, and hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. They will also weld as it pertains to industrial burners, pipe sizes ranging from ½" to 12", and other fuel oil or steel plate assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and install piping systems, pipe supports, and hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
- Install pipe for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating and industrial production and processing systems
- Weld as it pertains to industrial burners, pipe sizes ranging from ½" to 12"
- Work in a safe manner and produce a quality product
- Interpret blueprints, fabricate and weld to specifications
- Perform weld tests, pass visual and X-ray testing when needed
- Show qualification in welding per ASME Section IX in at least 3 welding methods when needed (SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW)
- Know various piping applications, carbon and stainless weld pipe, and screw pipe
- Use associated power tools to produce a quality product in a timely manner (grinder, saw, drill, plasma putter, drill press, break etc)
- Multi-task and work in a team-oriented environment
Requirements
- Minimum education requirement is HS graduate or GED
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in manufacturing or industrial setting
- Capable of interpreting blueprints, fabricating and welding to specifications
- Able to perform job in a safe manner and produce a quality product
- Successfully completed weld tests, passing both visual and X-ray testing when needed
- Qualified in welding per ASME Section IX in at least 3 welding methods when needed (SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW)
- Knowledge of various piping applications, carbon and stainless weld pipe, and screw pipe
- Ability to use associated power tools to produce a quality product in a timely manner (grinder, saw, drill, plasma putter, drill press, break etc)
- Able to multi-task and work in a team-oriented environment
Skills and Abilities
- 1 to 2 year diploma in welding or related instruction
- 4+ years experience in metal forming or in manufacturing or industrial setting
- Forklift certified
- Holds a valid driver's license
- OSHA 10 or greater
