Responsibilities
- Use arc or wire welders, maintain settings to produce pieces of desired quality.
- Report any problems with welding units to supervisor or welding coordinator immediately.
- Read and understand blueprints and weld symbols.
- Work with material handlers to set up work areas efficiently, ensuring ease of part movement.
- Assist in training less skilled welders as instructed.
- Report issues with parts, jigs, or fixtures that do not fit or function correctly.
- Perform first and last piece inspections on all orders; check parts during production runs to maintain quality standards.
- Clean and grind parts as needed.
- Perform both setup and run operations; report any production issues to supervisor or coordinator.
- Use Lockout-Tagout procedures to shut down malfunctioning equipment and report it immediately.
- Report all injuries, cuts, bumps, or burns to the supervisor as soon as they occur.
- Stay updated on Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and follow prescribed safety precautions; consult supervisor if unclear.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, free of debris, and report any safety concerns.
- Operate forklift to move parts and set up booths when needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least one year of welding experience or completion of a welding course.
- Ability to read and understand drawings, shop mathematics, handbook formulas, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to work from detailed instructions.
- Must pass a basic weld test.
