Responsibilities
- Consult blueprints and coordinate with the Lead person to identify job requirements.
- Gather necessary materials and perform layout per specifications.
- Set up welding machines and adjust settings to ensure flawless operations.
- Operate welding guns to weld steel, aluminum, copper, and other materials.
- Visually examine welds for adherence to quality standards; re-weld defective joints and remove surplus slag, flux, and spatter using a brush, pad, buffer, and/or grinder.
- Operate cutting torch and manual plasma cutter as needed.
- Apply weld stencil and inform the Lead person or Inspector when the product is ready for inspection.
- Perform ongoing housekeeping duties to keep the work area clear of scrap and debris.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of welding experience or training.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience (GED) required.
- Experience in Production Welding or a Welding Certificate is required.
- Ability to read tape measures and blueprints.
- Proficiency in operating welding equipment.
- Training in applicable SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and work instructions.
- Capability to read, comprehend, and convey simple or moderately complex instructions.
- Ability to write notes or simple correspondence.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out multiple-step instructions of moderate complexity.
- Ability to handle standardized situations with a limited set of variables.
Physical Demands
- Manufacturing position; spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands, and reaching.
- Around one-third of the time spent walking and engaging in conversation or listening.
- Less than one-third of the time spent positioning items that weigh up to 250 lbs.
- Generally requires clear vision at close distances.
