About the role
The Welder uses hand welding and flame-cutting equipment such as arc welders, gas welders, and gas torches to weld together metal components (flat, horizontal, or vertical plates and pipes). Responsibilities include assisting with the entire sequence of cutting and welding operations for a wide variety of repair and fabrication work, aligning and welding components of metal tools, wires, fixtures, and other metal products.
Responsibilities
- Works from sketches, prints, operation sheets, preliminary drawings, and written/verbal instructions.
- Maintains welding specifications.
- Sets up and operates all welding equipment.
- May utilize different types of welding systems for different tasks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Typically requires a technical degree and one (1) to four (4) years of related experience or an equivalent combination.
- Knowledge of Chemistry and Metallurgy.
- Understanding of Electricity.
- Knowledge of basic computer programming.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read blueprints.
