DRS Marlo Coil, part of Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems, manufactures robust heat transfer, refrigeration, and air handling equipment for industrial, commercial, utility, and marine markets. Our custom-engineered solutions cool, heat, and dehumidify air streams for process and building comfort, with equipment deployed on most U.S. Navy surface combatant ships and submarines. The business is positioned for significant growth in the Industrial/Commercial sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Produce quality work to prescribed standards with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule and within budget.
  • Follow written work instructions and work under minimal supervision on duties that are frequently non-routine, adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment as needed.
  • Perform tasks requiring deeper knowledge and experience in specified processes and procedures.
  • Use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals.
  • Communicate effectively with other functional departments such as Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales.
  • Resolve most questions and problems, escalating only complex issues to higher levels.
  • Serve as a resource for others in resolving complex problems.
  • Demonstrate initiative and sound decision-making.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures, including handling materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment (WHMIS) and using required PPE.
  • Periodically assist in orienting and training lower-level employees.
  • Participate in LEAN Events, “Six S” activities, action teams, and other improvement initiatives.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Perform welding processes in all positions on products of all applicable metals, meeting various codes and specifications including AWS and ASME.
  • Weld with a high degree of proficiency in:
    • MIG: carbon steels, stainless steel, aluminum, and combinations.
    • TIG: carbon steels, stainless steel, aluminum, and combinations.
  • Perform material preparation, open set-up, and fit to meet process requirements.
  • Read blueprints, weld symbols, and NDE symbols, and interpret acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate effective communication regarding production processes with other departments.
  • Perform visual inspection of weldments to confirm compliance with codes and standards.
  • Conduct daily and weekly maintenance on all equipment.
  • Share technical requirements, techniques, and safety information with peers.
  • Perform all aspects of inspection: in-process, final, and source, if required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in welding.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
