Welder

About the role

This team member will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all certified related welding for specialized assets along with maintaining company equipment. Work is performed in a refinery environment in La Porte, TX, with schedule determined by customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Welding materials together using SMAW (shielded metal arc welding), GMAW (gas metal arc welding), FCAW (flux-cored arc welding) & GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding)
• Basic fitting experience/knowledge
• Knowledge of raw materials and understanding of MTRs and electrode classifications
• Gouging processes (air carbon arc, plasma arc, oxy-fuel)
• Cutting processes (mechanical and power tools, oxy-fuel plasma arc, air carbon arc, electric arc)
• Cleaning and checking for defects and shape component parts
• Performing quality control
• Following directions given in drawings, blueprints, and work orders

Qualifications

• High School Diploma plus specialized training or 1 year of college
• 5–7 years welding experience
• Fabrication skills (e.g., cutting, grinding) essential
• Required Certificates:
  • GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding Certification)
  • SMAW (Shield Metal Arc Welding Certification) – Stick welding
  • FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding Certification)
  • GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Certification)
