We are looking for a skilled, safety-focused Welder to join our team! In this role, you will safely perform metalworking activities—including layout, welding, cutting, fabricating, grinding, and painting—for structural and non-structural applications. You’ll play a critical part in maintaining, repairing, and customizing our solid waste handling equipment and fleet, ensuring our operations run smoothly every single day.
Responsibilities
- Operate specified welding equipment to fabricate and perform structural repairs on new and used solid waste handling equipment.
- Prep repaired equipment for painting and apply finishes as needed.
- Maintain accurate service logs, monitor supply inventories, and inspect assigned hand tools to ensure everything is in top working order.
- Keep your work area, assigned shop space, and mobile service vehicles clean, organized, and safe.
- Collaborate with other shop technicians and assist with general repair duties when needed.
- Adhere to all federal, state/provincial, and local regulations, participate in branch safety programs, and prioritize safety in all tasks.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 2+ years of welding/fabrication experience, or a formal certification in basic welding skills.
- Ability to provide basic personal hand tools and safety gear (e.g., welding helmet/shield, standard hand wrenches).
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly (and occasionally up to 100 lbs), stand/kneel/bend for extended periods, and work safely in shop conditions, tight spaces, or varied weather environments.
