About the Role

This is an opportunity for a skilled fabricator/welder to showcase their craft in challenging and interesting heavy fabrication metal work. Our world-class tanks require welders capable of wire-feed welding in multiple positions, including confined spaces and elevated work. Pay

Starting wage: $23–$28/hour, based on experience and performance on a 5-point weld test. Opportunity to earn more over time.

Responsibilities

• Weld using wire-feed processes in multiple positions, including confined spaces and on top of tanks.
• Operate handheld plasma cutters, grinders, and manual flame-cutting torches.
• Fit up and assemble products to required tolerances.
• Use bridge cranes to position parts and assemblies during production.
• Exchange empty gas cylinders (oxygen, shielding gas, fuel gas) using a hand truck/dolly.
• Perform Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW).
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and engineering drawings.
• Assist other production employees as directed by management.
• Maintain professional and respectful communication with supervisors, engineers, and team members.
• Work in various weather conditions, high noise levels, and elevated or confined spaces.
• Stand, bend, climb, and lift up to 40 pounds for extended periods; push, pull, or drag suction hoses onto tanks weighing 10–100 pounds.

Hazards

• High voltage electrical hazards.
• High-speed machines, rotating blades, and gears.
• Working on ladders and man lifts.
• Exposure to welding fumes and ultraviolet light radiation from welding and cutting processes.
• Operation of cranes and moving large steel objects.
• Risk of cuts and abrasions from grinders and steel plate edges.
• Risk of explosion from flame-cutting processes.

All welders are required to wear leather work gloves, hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and any additional protection required for specific tasks.

Requirements

• Ability to weld using wire-feed processes in multiple positions.
• Experience with handheld plasma cutters, grinders, and manual flame-cutting torches.
• Skill to fit up and assemble products to required tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
• Capability to pass a welding test demonstrating required skill level.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, climb, and lift up to 40 pounds for long periods.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and various weather conditions.
• Ability to work around high noise levels.
• Must maintain a professional and respectful demeanor in interactions with team members and management.
• Must pass pre-employment drug testing and maintain a drug-free workplace.
