About the role
Cherubini Metal Works, a member of the Cherubini Group of Companies, is seeking Welders to join our team in Dartmouth, NS. We have an outstanding Safety Culture focused on the health and wellbeing of our workforce. Active participation in our Safety Program is vital. The role includes production welding, service and repair welding, prototype building, and fitter welding.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate custom prototypes from supplied drawings.
- Create custom jigs and fixtures to produce production parts meeting customer specifications.
- Fabricate metal structures using jigs and fixtures in a high-paced production environment.
- Work with steel structures such as bridge components, steel beams, steel channels, and shell structures.
- Use various hand tools, machinery, and equipment to manufacture metal products.
- Collaborate with Foremen and Lead Hands to improve work cells, meet quotas, and weld according to pre-set parameters using Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) processes.
- Read and understand production drawings, blueprints, work orders, and other written instructions.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment for processes including GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, PAW, SMAW, OAW, resistance welding, and SAW.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment, brazing and soldering equipment, and metal shaping machines (e.g., brakes, shears, straightening/bending machines).
- Repair parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.
- Maintain safe work practices and monitor parts usage, reporting material issues.
- Assist in training, directing, and supervising junior employees and apprentices, inspecting and certifying their work.
- Review blueprints and specifications to ensure designs function as intended in their environment.

Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 3–5 years’ experience as a Welder.
- Current CWB tickets (all positions).
- Valid welding certification in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), certified in all positions.
- FCAW certification considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
- Experience with routine maintenance operations.
- Experience working with overhead cranes (with or without load).
- Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills for a diverse working environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
Pay
$24.00–$32.00 per hour
Schedule
44–45 hours per week (Full-time)
