What Will You Do?
- Weld metal parts on fixtures; attach jigs & clamps as needed to hold metal parts in proper position for welding.
- Perform complete welding and finishing operations for unit repair.
- Utilize visual examination of welds for defects and verify weld sizes with fillet gauges.
- Accurately maintain required documentation.
- Train and instruct other welders.
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. and occasionally heavier (50-60 lbs.) with assistance.
- Frequent sitting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, walking and occasional crawling.
- Frequent pushing, pulling and handling of materials.
- Sometimes climbing and working at elevated positions.
- Exposure to metal cutting, welding odors, welding flash and incidental acceptable limits of x-ray radiation.
- Exposure to overhead objects and occasional flying debris.
Required Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Safety glasses with side shields.
- ANSI approved steel-toed safety shoes.
- Hearing protection.
- Hard hat.
Your Experience Should Be
- Previous experience performing Mig and/or Tig Welding required.
- Pipe Welding experience is required or able to obtain within your certification period.
- Pipe Fitting experience is preferred.
- Print reading course including welding symbols desired.
- Ability to comprehend complex blueprints and weld symbols.
- Ability to accurately measure using devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
- Successful ability to pass company welder certification tests within 4 weeks of start.
Your Education Should Be
- A high school diploma or GED required.
- A technical welding diploma required in lieu of welding experience.
