What Will You Do?

  • Weld metal parts on fixtures; attach jigs & clamps as needed to hold metal parts in proper position for welding.
  • Perform complete welding and finishing operations for unit repair.
  • Utilize visual examination of welds for defects and verify weld sizes with fillet gauges.
  • Accurately maintain required documentation.
  • Train and instruct other welders.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require

  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. and occasionally heavier (50-60 lbs.) with assistance.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, walking and occasional crawling.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling and handling of materials.
  • Sometimes climbing and working at elevated positions.
  • Exposure to metal cutting, welding odors, welding flash and incidental acceptable limits of x-ray radiation.
  • Exposure to overhead objects and occasional flying debris.

Required Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Safety glasses with side shields.
  • ANSI approved steel-toed safety shoes.
  • Hearing protection.
  • Hard hat.

Your Experience Should Be

  • Previous experience performing Mig and/or Tig Welding required.
  • Pipe Welding experience is required or able to obtain within your certification period.
  • Pipe Fitting experience is preferred.
  • Print reading course including welding symbols desired.
  • Ability to comprehend complex blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Ability to accurately measure using devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Successful ability to pass company welder certification tests within 4 weeks of start.

Your Education Should Be

  • A high school diploma or GED required.
  • A technical welding diploma required in lieu of welding experience.
