Welder

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Produce quality welds to complete fabrication process
• Level, scrape, and finish edges or surfaces using hand scraper
• Adjust valves to obtain flame of specified size and color; adjust arc welding equipment to obtain specified size arc under strict supervision
• Obtain accurate amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse on welding unit
• Clean weld joint
• Meet established deadlines

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• One year of experience working in a production or fabrication facility preferred
• Good general mechanical aptitude
• General knowledge of machines and tools used in manufacturing and/or mechanical shops
• Significant arm-hand steadiness and manual dexterity, including hand, arm, and finger coordination
• Ability to read and interpret a linear tape measure
• Ability to follow verbal instructions

Education and Experience

• 1 year welding experience preferred

Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
