Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Produce quality welds to complete fabrication process
- Level, scrape, and finish edges or surfaces using hand scraper
- Adjust valves to obtain flame of specified size and color; adjust arc welding equipment to obtain specified size arc under strict supervision
- Obtain accurate amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse on welding unit
- Clean weld joint
- Meet established deadlines
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- One year of experience working in a production or fabrication facility preferred
- Good general mechanical aptitude
- General knowledge of machines and tools used in manufacturing and/or mechanical shops
- Significant arm-hand steadiness and manual dexterity, including hand, arm, and finger coordination
- Ability to read and interpret a linear tape measure
- Ability to follow verbal instructions
Education and Experience
- 1 year welding experience preferred
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
