Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and engineering drawings to determine welding specifications.
- Select appropriate welding techniques, equipment, and materials based on the project requirements.
- Set up welding equipment and adjust settings to ensure proper fusion of metals.
- Employ various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, arc, and spot welding to fabricate or repair metal parts and structures.
- Inspect welds to identify and rectify any defects, ensuring compliance with industry and quality standards.
- Collaborate with supervisors and other team members to plan and prioritize welding projects.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
- Assist in training and guiding less experienced welders, if required.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in welding techniques and equipment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Welder or similar role.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Thorough understanding of welding techniques, equipment, and materials.
- Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
- Familiarity with different types of metal and their welding requirements.
- Ability to operate and maintain various welding equipment.
- Excellent knowledge of safety practices, procedures, and regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and strength to handle welding tasks that may involve heavy lifting or prolonged standing.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Welder) preferred.
